LITTLE INFO ABOUT "CHHATH PUJA":
Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival which is historically native to the Indian subcontinent, especially in the Indian states of
Bihar,
Jharkhand and
Uttar Pradesh as well as the Madhes region of Nepal. Chhath Puja is dedicated to the sun and his wives, Usha and Sundays so that they can be thanked for giving the prize of life on earth and requesting some good wishes. There is no idol worship in Chhath. This festival is celebrated by Nepali and Indian people with their Diaspora.
Festival rituals are strict and are celebrated in a period of four days. These include bathing in holy baths, fasting and drinking water, standing in water for long periods, and offering offerings (prayer offerings) and arghya and offering rising sun. The main worshiper Parvaitin (Sanskrit Parva, which means 'Opportunity' or 'festival') is usually women. However, a large number of men also follow this celebration as there is no sixth gender-specific festival. Some devotees also do a prostration march in the form of head for the banks of the river.
